Social Media Erupts As Pope Leo Tweets For The First Time With Very Direct Message

Social media has gone wild for Pope Leo XIV’s tweets for the first time with a very direct message.

A religious leader tweeting just feels wrong but the internet has gone wild for Pope Leo’s social media.

Sharing on the platform on May 14, his account shared: “Peace be with you all! This is the first greeting spoken by the Risen Christ, the Good Shepherd. I would like this greeting of peace to resound in your hearts, in your families, and among all people, wherever they may be, in every nation and throughout the world.”

“The ancient, yet ever new spiritualities of the Christian East offer a healing balm. They merge an awareness of human misery with awe for divine mercy, so that our lowliness never leads to despair but invites us to welcome grace,” he added.

At the time of writing, his account has over 18.6 million followers.

This comes after he recently ‘called out’ Donald Trump when the president seemingly attempted to take credit for a historical event.

During his first ever press conference as head of the Catholic Church, some are interpreting one of his comments as a dig at Trump, after the 78-year-old appeared to take credit for the Pope getting his role.

Taking to Truth Social on May 12, Trump wrote: “So funny to watch old timer Martha Raditz on ABC Fake News (the Slopadopolus show!) this morning, blurt out that, effectively, Pope Leo’s selection had nothing to do with Donald Trump.

“It came out of nowhere, but it was on her Trump Deranged Mind. Remember, I did WIN the Catholic Vote, by a lot! Bob Iger should do something about the losers and haters he’s got on his low rated shows. It’s time for change. MAGA!!!”

Only hours later, Pope Leo held his first press conference. Speaking to journalists, he said:  “The way we communicate is of fundamental importance: We must say ‘no’ to the war of words and images, we must reject the paradigm of war.

“Let us disarm communication of all prejudice and resentment, fanaticism, and even hatred; let us free it from aggression. We do not need loud, forceful communication, but rather communication that is capable of listening and of gathering the voices of the weak who have no voice.”

“The Church recognizes these witnesses—I am thinking of those who report on war even at the cost of their lives—the courage of those who defend dignity, justice, and the right of people to be informed, because only informed individuals can make free choices.”

Many people have interpreted his comments on ‘loud’ and ‘forceful communication’ was aimed at Trump since he often writes to Truth Social in caps.

Some commented that he was ‘shading Trump’.

When asked if he had a message for the US, he said: “Many,”, “God bless you all.”

People have responded online to his comments, with one writing: “This is the most menacing thing I’ve seen a Pope say in my entire life.”

“You know it’s serious when even the Pope sounds like he’s got receipts and plans,” said another, while a third wrote: “This wasn’t a message this was a warning disguised as a blessing and I’m shook.”

“I’ve never heard two syllables sound more powerful and unsettling at the same time,” added someone else.
