Donald Trump had a brutal message for actors that boycotted his appearance.
The president and first lady Melania Trump went to the Kennedy Centre yesterday (11 June) and he was asked about the cast of Les Miserables boycotting his appearance.
‘I couldn’t care less. Honestly, I couldn’t,’ said Trump. ‘All I do is run the country well.’
It was previously reported that the Trumps, VP J.D Vance and his wife, Usha, were going to watch the performance of some understudy actors.
However, a source for the Kennedy Centre denied these claims, telling media: ‘It was a fake news from CNN from the beginning – all anonymous sources.’
There had previously been threats that drag queens were planning to heckle Trump during the show – with a group gathering just a block away.
When entering the theatre, the Trumps were applauded and a “USA” chant broke out, as well as boos.
Less than 20 days into his second term, Trump announced that he was going to fire the board of the Kennedy Centre and appoint himself as chairman.
Since, Trump made Richard Grenell, who was the Director of National Intelligence during his first term, the interim executive director.
Trump has since praised Grenell’s work so far.
However, many celebs and actors have cut all ties with the centre including multiple LGBTQ programmes and events that were scheudled for WorldPride this month.
The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington D.C. was cancelled by the Kennedy Center earlier this month as well as LGBTQ themed musical, Finn, which was was axed from the programme.
These changes have caused outrage amongst the community, which prompted drag queens to protest Trump at Wednesday’s appearance.

Trump spoke on the red carpet: “The new era here is going to be something,’,’The bones of this facility are really incredible, we’re going to make it really great.’
‘It’s the last time I’ll take a job without looking at it,’ he joked.
