Two people and a dog were killed, and another is fighting for life after a UTV (utility terrain vehicle) rolled down an embankment and hit a tree on Monday.
Four people were travelling in the vehicle on a private estate in Sandy Creek on Monday afternoon when the horrific crash occurred.
Police report that at around 1.28pm, a Polaris Ranger UTV speared over an embankment and rammed into a tree on the Cedarvale Road property and have provided a grim update.
The 59-year-old male driver and the 75-year-old male passenger sitting in the left rear of the vehicle were declared deceased at the scene by emergency services.
A 33-year-old female passenger who was in the right rear of the UTV was airlifted to Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital with critical injuries, and a 50-year-old woman who was the front passenger was able to free herself from the wreck.
She was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment.
A dog that was travelling inside the vehicle was also killed in the crash.
The UTV has been towed for mechanical inspection as part of the investigation into the incident.
