“Schumer Slams Trump: ‘You’re Selling Out Ukraine’ in Scorching Social Media Post”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) accused President Donald Trump of “selling out” Ukraine following his high-profile meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin—where no agreement to end the war was announced.

“Looks like once again Trump is selling out Ukraine and bowing down to dictator Putin,” Schumer wrote Saturday on X, formerly Twitter. “No Nobel Peace Prize for that.”

Trump, meanwhile, hailed the summit in Anchorage, Alaska, as “great progress,” despite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy not being invited. In a Friday night interview on Fox News, Trump insisted it’s “really up to President Zelenskyy to get it done,” adding optimistically, “we have a pretty good chance of getting it done.” Zelenskyy and Trump are scheduled to meet at the Oval Office on Monday.

Schumer’s post came after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton suggested Trump could be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize if he successfully brokers a ceasefire with Putin. Trump responded to Clinton’s remarks with a quip to Fox News’ Bret Baier: “That was very nice. I might have to start liking her again.”

Trump has long lamented never receiving the Nobel Peace Prize—a distinction earned by rival Barack Obama and three other U.S. presidents. Supporters have repeatedly campaigned for him, citing global peace deals and ceasefires his administration claims he helped negotiate.

Last month, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt asserted that Trump has “brokered, on average, about one peace deal or ceasefire per month during his six months in office. It’s well past time that President Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.”

In a separate X post Friday, Schumer also criticized “authoritarian thug” Putin while accusing Trump of “rolling out the red carpet” for the Russian leader.
