Molly McGovern, daughter of Massachusetts Rep. James McGovern, passed away on April 23 while on vacation in Italy. She was 23.
Molly had been living with a rare cancer diagnosis since she was 18 but embraced life fully. Her mother, Lisa, said at her funeral, “There were little miracles everywhere.”
A student at Northeastern University studying political science and international affairs, Molly had recently completed a semester abroad in Australia.
Rep. McGovern remembered his daughter as joyful, kind, and wise beyond her years: “She made everyone feel special.” Her brother Patrick called her “the soul of our family.”
Molly’s funeral was held on May 3 at St. Bernard’s Church in Worcester.
