The search for answers in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has entered a tense new phase after authorities released surveillance images of an “armed” individual believed to be potentially connected to the case — prompting police and federal agents to intensify searches in the neighborhood of her daughter, Annie Guthrie.
Officers from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, working alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), were seen canvassing land and questioning residents near Annie’s Tucson home on Tuesday, Feb. 10, just hours after the images were made public.

The renewed search follows the release of surveillance photos showing a masked figure wearing gloves — a subject authorities say may be linked to Nancy’s disappearance, which has gripped the community and drawn national attention.
Neighbors Questioned As Search Intensifies
Local resident Tony Zaccagnini, 74, told PEOPLE that investigators approached him while canvassing the area.
“They didn’t ask for my phone number or nothing,” he said. “But I’ve got cameras set up around my property, in the front and the back.”

Zaccagnini said officers reviewed footage from his home surveillance system but found nothing of significance.
“They were here last week asking to look at my cameras,” he added. “We didn’t see anything on it.”
Despite the heightened police presence, officials have remained guarded.
“We’re not confirming anything at this time,” a Phoenix-based FBI spokesperson told PEOPLE.
Focus Turns Toward Annie Guthrie’s Area
Law enforcement activity around Annie’s residence was first spotted late on Feb. 7 — just hours after Annie and her siblings, Savannah Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, released a public video message addressing whoever may have taken their mother.
Annie’s home is located roughly four miles from Nancy’s longtime Tucson residence, where authorities believe she was taken in the early morning hours of Jan. 31.
Former CIA and FBI special agent Tracy Walder told PEOPLE that before searching the area, officers may have obtained a warrant, received Annie’s consent — or both.
Newly Released Images Raise Alarming Questions
The intensified search comes after Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos announced the release of previously inaccessible surveillance images believed to show an armed individual tampering with a camera at Nancy’s front door.
“Working with our partners, law enforcement has uncovered new images showing an armed individual appearing to have interfered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door on the morning of her disappearance,” Nanos said in a statement shared on X.
The subject in the images appears masked and gloved — details that investigators say could prove critical.
Timeline Of A Disturbing Disappearance
Nancy was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, when her son-in-law Tommaso Cioni dropped her off at her home after dinner with Annie, authorities previously confirmed.
She was officially reported missing on Feb. 1 after failing to attend church.
Soon after, law enforcement revealed they believe Nancy was taken against her will.
Investigators later confirmed that blood found on the front steps of Nancy’s home matched her DNA. Authorities also confirmed remnants of a doorbell camera — believed to be a Ring or Nest device — had been removed from the front door area.
A Case At A Dangerous Crossroads
As the search widens and new images circulate, the case appears to be approaching one of its most critical moments yet.
The FBI continues to urge anyone with information to come forward, asking the public to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Office at 520-351-4900.
For the Guthrie family, every hour brings renewed hope — and mounting fear — that the mystery surrounding Nancy’s disappearance may soon be unraveled.
