ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) — After 13 years of struggle, an elderly dog is getting a new beginning. Bessie, a tiny shih tzu, was found abandoned in a fast food parking lot in Roswell.
When a good Samaritan found her, they reached out to Animal Humane. They found a large, painful mass on her hind leg. Bessie underwent surgery to have it removed. She is now in a critical recovery period. Animal Humane has opened donations to help pay for her veterinary care.
