Tragic update on desperate search for elderly man fishing at Queensland dam

The man’s inflatable dinghy was discovered with the motor still running four days ago.
A 74-year-old man who vanished during a fishing trip at a Queensland dam has been found dead.

The Glenwood man was reported missing after his inflatable dinghy was discovered with the motor still running near the shoreline of Boondooma Dam, in Proston, just after 9am on June 26.

He was last seen getting ready to fish around 5.45am that morning.

After days of desperate searching, police confirmed the man’s body was found in the water just before midday on Monday.

An extensive search was carried out after a dinghy was found near Boondooma Dam in Proston, Queensland.

The large-scale search effort included police, SES crews, dam staff, helicopters and local volunteers.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
